Basic first aid is immediate care given to the injured person before proper medical treatment. Every year many accidents occur. with some care, they can be prevented. In case an accident happens, you can help if you know basic first aid. First aid helps to save one’s life by preventing their condition from being worse. Remember always to seek help from an adult immediately if you found any type of accident happen nearby you. Basic first aid is like Do not move the casualty unnecessarily, keep him warm, make a diagnosis, decide the treatment and treat, remember the ABC of first aid.

Some of the Basic First Aid that you have to use in following Conditions:

1Respiration

If it is failing, give artificial respiration- MOUTH to MOUTH or MOUTH to NOSE

  MOUTH to MOUTH resuscitation:

Place the person on the flat floor. Check in the mouth and in the throat to ensure airway is clear. if you found any type of blockage remove it. Now tilt the head lit bit backward for air flow then pinch the nose and place your mouth on the mouth of the victim.  Blow two quick breathe and check the victim’s chest biting. Release the nose and check whether he or she is breathing by themselves, if not then repeat the same process.

 MOUTH to NOSE

This is given when the victim has a serious facial or dental injury. Place the palm of the hand on the victim’s forehead and another hand to lift the jaw of the victim. after blocking the victim’s mouth take a deep breath place your lip on the victim’s nose and blow air.  Check the chest and look victim is breathing or not.

2 BLEEDING

Arrest the bleeding and protect the wound. Now apply direct or indirect pressure. Cover the wound with a dressing, apply a pad and firm bandage. Elevate the wounded part above the level of the heart to stop bleeding.

3FRACTURES

Immobilize the fracture part with a well padded stiff support reaching the joints on either side. Apply bandages on either side of the site and the joints on either side with support.

4BURN AND SCALDS

A burn is caused by dry heat or by moist heat like steam, very hot water or oil. Immediately cool the area with cold water for 15 mins or till pain subsides. Do not break blister, or apply anything on the burn. Cover with a clean cloth, pad, and bandage.

5NOSE BLEEDING

Sit him up facing the breeze with the head slightly forward. Ask him to breathe through the mouth and not to blow his nose. Apply a cold compress over the nose. The soft part of the nose may be pinched closed with fingers for 10mins. Cold application on the back of the neck and forehead may help.

6BEE STING

Do not press the bag of the sting. use forceps and remove the sting. Apply cold or weak ammonia.

7ANIMAL BITES

Wash the affected area with soap and plenty of water. Apply a loose bandage. Get quick medical aid.

8SNAKE BITES

Keep the patient calm. Wash with soap and plenty of water. Do not rub hard. First, apply a constrictive bandage on the heart side of the bite. Do not apply continuously for more than 20 mins. Do not incise or attempt to suck the wound. get aid quickly. Try to identify the snake.

9FAINTING

Lay him down and loosen the clothing around chest and waist. Turn head to one side. the legs may be raised a little. Do not attempt to give any solids or liquids. On recovery, a small quantity of drink may be given and he may be allowed to sit up and move after rest.

10GENERAL BASIC FIRST AIDS

If you are in doubt of the treatment do not do anything. You may do more harm.
